House rules and policies
Our house rules keep our home safe, sober and peaceful for everyone who lives here. Participation is voluntary, and continuing in the program depends on following these rules. Every resident reviews and signs them as part of their program agreement before move-in.
These rules apply to homes operated by Cover's Safe Haven. Partner homes have their own rules.
Zero tolerance
To protect every resident, the following will end your participation in the program immediately:
- Drugs, alcohol or marijuana on the property
- Weapons, threats, fighting or arguing
- Theft, or entering another resident's room or belongings
- Flirting, sexual activity or sexual harassment
- Overnight guests
- Violating the 10:00pm curfew
Terminated residents must leave the property right away and may not return. If a terminated resident returns, police will be called.

Sober living
Cover's Safe Haven is a drug- and alcohol-free home. A sober environment protects every resident's health, safety and progress.
- Drugs, alcohol, marijuana and any illegal or non-prescribed substances are prohibited anywhere on the property, including inside vehicles parked on site.
- Residents may not enter the home under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- All residents complete a drug and alcohol test before move-in. Random drug and alcohol tests are conducted throughout residency, and refusing a test is treated as a positive result.
- Use or possession of drugs or alcohol on the property results in immediate termination of the program agreement, and law enforcement will be contacted.
- Residents with a history of addiction are required to attend AA or NA meetings and may be asked to show proof of attendance.
Safety and security
The safety of every resident depends on everyone following these security procedures.
- Exterior doors must remain locked at all times. Lock the door behind you every time you enter or leave.
- Each resident receives a personal door code. Door codes are confidential and may never be shared with or given to anyone, including family and friends.
- Residents must sign in and sign out on the house log each time they enter or leave the home.
- Bags and packages may be inspected for weapons and prohibited items when entering the home.
- Weapons of any kind, including firearms, knives intended as weapons and replicas, are prohibited on the property.
- For fire safety, candles, incense, space heaters, hot plates and cooking appliances are not permitted in bedrooms.
- Do not tamper with smoke detectors, cameras, locks or other safety equipment.
- In an emergency, call 911 first, then notify management as soon as possible.
Curfew and quiet hours
A consistent schedule keeps the home calm, secure and respectful of everyone's rest.
- Curfew is 10:00pm nightly. All residents must be inside the home and signed in by curfew.
- The only exception is a verified work schedule submitted to management in advance.
- Violating curfew results in termination of the program agreement.
- Quiet hours are 11:00pm to 7:00am. Televisions, music and conversations must be kept at a low volume.
- Smoking is not permitted during quiet hours, to limit residents going in and out of the home at night.
Phone calls and noise
You share this home with roommates and neighbors. Please be mindful of the noise you make at all times.
- Speak at a low volume when on the phone, especially in shared rooms and common areas.
- Speakerphone is not permitted in shared spaces. Use headphones for calls, music and videos.
- Keep loud or lengthy calls outside of quiet hours, and step away from others when possible.
Guests

- All guests must be approved by management before their visit.
- Approved guests may visit in shared areas only and are never permitted in bedrooms.
- Residents are responsible for the behavior of their guests at all times.

Respect and conduct
Every resident deserves a home where they feel safe, respected and at peace.
- Treat fellow residents, management and neighbors with courtesy and respect at all times.
- Threats, physical fighting, verbal arguments, intimidation and bullying are prohibited and result in termination of the program agreement.
- Flirting, romantic or sexual relationships between residents, sexual activity on the property and sexual harassment of any kind are prohibited and result in termination of the program agreement.
- Theft, entering another resident's room, or handling another resident's belongings without permission results in termination of the program agreement.
- Residents are expected to maintain a positive, cooperative attitude and to resolve concerns calmly through management.

House meetings and management
